Protecting
human rights is one of the cornerstones for creating a better
world. While the oppressed people of the world can advocate for
their rights, animals cannot. And while most people recognize
the importance of human rights for all, some don't think about
the rights of the other living creatures in the world. For this
reason, many who wish for a better world feel a special obligation
to help protect animals from cruel and inhumane treatment they
sometimes receive in the food and clothing industries and medical
research field.
World Animal
Day, on October 4, is a time to celebrate and appreciate our
relationship with the animals that share our planet and the ways
in which they enrich our lives. It is also an important opportunity
to speak out to ensure the humane treatment of farm animals and
to advocate for protection of the habitats that are home to wild
animals.
World Farm
Animals Day is observed on October 2 as another day to mobilize
around the humane treatment of farm animals, and Vegetarian
Day on October 1 is a chance to educate our communities about
the benefits provided by an animal-free diet.
